Saturday Photo Hunt #18 - Architecture

The British Columbia Legislature is valued as the most significant political, social, and architectural landmark in British Columbia. Initiated in 1893 to boost the local economy and to ensure the city's retention of the seat of government, the Legislature is representative of the history of the political activities and governmental regulation which have occurred in Victoria since colonial times.

Another interesting fact about this building - the architect, Francis Rattenbury was murdered by his wife's boyfriend.

Oh I so want to go to British Columbia! Of course we probably should have done that when we lived in California. Now that I'm on the other side of the country, I will have to be content with just looking at pictures like these and daydreaming. Thanks!

No, I guess you don't move the seat of government after the expense and beauty of that building! I'm wondering how many years it took to fill it up! Great shot!
